I had been trying to get one of these forever but taking a shy black bird, against the sky (where they always manage to pose when I am a around) proved too challenging ... until the other morning when this one landed near my train station, in bright sun ,and I managed to meter more or less correctly. It is the best I have managed so far (i.e. not a silhouette)

Beautiful bird! Lovely to see him perched on that branch. I love the background. A great capture. :)

I liked it so much I saved it in my Spring and Summer file. It's a great shot of a hard to capture bird. I think you did a wonderful job of light metering and that he's sitting on a branch coming to life is a nice contrast to his dark presence.

Such a beautiful bird, with a great outline against the sky and a very good contrast between its colors and the blooming tree. Great sharpness, stunning blue sky.
