Over the weekend, I've been visiting the property where I grew up (for the most part). This is the last home that I shared with my parents and siblings. The house is abandoned and falling down, now only inhabited by porcupines and who knows what else. That is where I found this tree in the yard. I remember that this chain was put around the tree about thirty years ago, although I don't remember the padlock. I assume that the horizontal split across the tree is from the chain being wrapped around it for so many years. Now, like me, it is forever a part of this place. ~~~Memories are like chains rattling around in my head, getting heavier all the time.

Wow!! That is an impressive image my Friend. I really like this and the angle and focus of all of this cool texture and color. A thought provoking render.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I suppose that the tree was growing and the chain pulling it back and therefore the split. Good find and a nice capture of something that brings back memories.

Wonderful shot Tina, I feel bad for the poor tree having to grow over that rusty chain. Excellent detail and textures

So what's the story with the chain? Did your dad or someone put it there, or was it always there as a child?
