When I saw this growing in pot in a courtyard I had to get a shot since the lighting was absolutely perfect to highlight the flowers. Then I found out what it was from someone who would know. With a name, I began to research it and here's the results of my research gleaned from several nursery sites. Fothergilla is a dense compact deciduous shrub. In mid-spring, its flowers are white and resemble a bottle-brush. Fothergilla leaves are rounded and dark green, changing to brilliant yellow to orange-red in the fall. It was originally indigenous to the Allegheny Mountains from northern North Carolina and Tennessee to northern Alabama. All comments and critiques appreciated.

I thought I was going to see some creature from a Japanese monster film of the '50's when I saw the title. I'm not entirely disappointed, but still...
...Good lighting in the photo, Kathy, and a great closeup of this shrubbery. Nice details in the photo.

Lovely sunlight shining through this most unusual plant and I can see what attracted you to take this super shot.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
