This footed bowl is 12" in diameter and was made for the purpose of planting the ferns that everyone grew in Victorian times and actually were still popular into the 1930's. There were special little round tables meant to hold your fern planting that could be found in "front parlors" everywhere. All comments and critiques appreciated.

I doubt I would plant ferns in it, but I might fill it with jelly beans! LOL. Another nice antique shot, Kathy.

Oh what memories this brings!
In our 'parlour' in England when I was a child there was a pot like this on a mirrored table.. I am certain it would not have been Limoges though! It was green and grew an Aspidistra.

A fine photo of a most beautiful piece Kathy.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

I thought "ferner" was some fancy French word for round bowl. Thanks for the education.:)
A beautiful looking piece of porcelain with lovely colours in the image.

That a nice large bowl! Not an easy find anymore being so large like this one. The details and colors on this one is amazing! I bet you are happy to have this one in your collection.
