This is a new color of hydrangea I've been seeing around - a deep wine red color. I'm not sure my image reflects the depth of color due to the rain that morning but it is very striking against its very dark green foliage. Hydrangea seem to be a hot plant right for hybridizing in a whole range of new colors.

Hi, Kathy...

Happy to hear there's rain in Illinois this year. After last year's drought and the spike in the price of everything corn and grain related, I wonder if the prices will reflect the abundance of grains. Perhaps I'll be able to afford hamburger again.

Now to the red flower...are you sure it's an hydrangea? Looks like a poinsettia to me or maybe a red rose. As an amateur flowerologist with a PhD in flowerology, I know that these questions need to be asked.

You must have used some powerful filters on this one, Kathy. If I had tried this shot it would have burst into flames on the screen. Great job keeping the colors under control. Excellent detail showing the bit of moisture on the petals. Nice dark background. No complaints from me.

P.S. Fine border by the way.

What a gorgeous deep red and the rain has given them an extra gleam. Well taken and presented Kathy :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
