That's the name of this perennial blue salvia. Commonly it's also known as Meadow Sage. The May Night salvia has glowing purple stems that are loaded with blue-violet flowers. The blooms of the May night salvia appear from June through October. The aromatic foliage of this blue salvia is gray green in color, and makes an attractive accent all summer long. The May Night salvia will grow up to thirty-six inches in height, and eighteen inches wide. This particular variety of salvia is also very attractive to butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Planted as a border, this salvia is also very useful in deer prevention.

Lovely color capture Kathy, and I would agree with Joanie on the border, less I think would have been best. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I love the abandon with which they seem to be swaying - and you captured the colour perfectly. The sunlight is lovely
\I did not know the name May Night for this salvia. I grew it in my garden once, not realizing how tall it grew - just about took over but it was very pretty.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Do these thing glow in the dark as well? Lovely looking blooms Kathy. You could add some contrast and reduce the brightness to cut down on the highlighting in the scene.
