I use that title cautiously as this is technically the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River. The river flows northward through the city of Chicago and somewhere in a close northern suburb Morton Grove, the branch forms which continues north and then just south of another northern suburb, Glenview, a fork develops which you see part of here. The fork eventually ends in Lake Eleanor - a tiny lake in a far northern suburb Lake Forest. This mostly flows through forest preserve lands but this section, in the image, is in Village Green park in downtown Northbrook. This was taken last Sunday morning and after the rains and winds this week, this whole scene is now mostly bare.
How about painting this in reversed colours ! Now you got it.
