This is the summit of Mt Hood (it's a bit over 13,000' tall)..in this area is where the Ski Lodge is and therefore the ski lifts..you can see them on here...but as yet we have not had much snow..they are expecting 15" tonight ! I took this photo just before the sun set...so that's why you see the sunlight on the mountain and the shadows are cast in this beautiful blue..you can see a few people too. It was such clean fresh crispy air up there..I hated to leave. It wasn't even cold..it was a perfect afternoon.

Wow! Great capture Miz Verena! I love the way the lighting makes the snow blue.Combine this with the great earth colors, and the small pine trees, and this would look excellent framed!..Good job, young lady!..=)

Great image Verena, love this winter scene ! Those shadows really save this image from being just another snowfall....You have a good eye for details & the finer point of what makes a good photograph great.

You enjoyed the perfect afternoon and gave us the perfect photo, thank you. What caught my eye was how well the closer blue snow matches the shape of the sky, intriguing and beautiful.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

This is a great image...you captured that moment very well and I can understand that you hated to leave. The afternoon sun gave the whole scenery a very special lighting...I really love it.
Very good work from you, Verena...

The shadows and the sun light mix in great harmony and flow all over the enchanting mountain adding beauty and grace to it. You have captured it well by focusing and composing in a very good manner.

Very unique look at this. We usually only see the full snow scenes for these mountanous locales. I suppose it looks different now if you had that snowfall. Our snow has come and melted two time already this year. Good late evening capture--adds warmth to the cold.

Once again you have fooled me...when I first saw this I thought it would turn out to be one of Pierre's...great mix of sun and shadow on this snowy mountain...doesn't look cold...just very pretty and also with that cheerful blue sky...good one, Verena.:Pat.

Great picture Verena, wonderful colors and I like the shadows on the ground to. Next time you take your Cougar and drive to the top and let me see the view from there, ok?

Sorry I gotta correct you, just over 11000 ft not 13000. But I love the shot, lighting, and scale conveyed by the people!

A wonderful scenic shot Verena, lovely light and shadow. There are some winters when I feel like I've shoveled 13,000 ft of snow.:)
