She's a pretty one Carol, just gorgeous!! Too bad it was on such a neutral backdrop, kinda takes away from the beauty of it's colors.

Nicely captured Carol ! You were so lucky he didn't fly away. And what a beauty he is too ! I feel like I could reach right out & touch him.

Hi Carol...This is quite a mellow capture. The background and the butterfly are nice & softly colored. That always isn't a bad thing you know :) The yellow on the butterflies wings serves to differentiate the insect from the ground rather nicely. Good eye for a capture :)
Oh, thanks also for the recent visit to ~painted moth~. Now that was one big butterfly! Everyone was just standing and staring at this beauty. We had to wait to get close enough to get a quick shot off. I am glad that is was good enough to share with all my friends here at ceades.net. Drop by anytime. The door is always open and the coffee/tea is always on. Your support is deeply appreciated. :~)

Beautiful Morning Cloak butterfly. It appears as though part of its underwings have been chewed off near the body. I ran into a breeding area in the woods once by accident and there must have been 100 Morning Cloaks flying around with many more hatching. Wish I had a picture of that. Nice shot.....did he smile for you?
