Taken on a rather wet, rainy day, with short periods of veiled sunlight.
Another look at October in the north woods of Minnesota.
A couple of small maple trees standing out from the crowd.
A view, through the trees, at the St. Croix River.
More northwoods color on a splendid October morning.
I don't know what kind of tree this is, but the late afternoon sun imparted a touch of gold to the reddish bark.

Taken while perched on the cliff's edge above the Kettle River. This spot is called the Kettle River Highbanks, for obvious reasons.
A late autumn shot of a gingko tree at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
I had only a few minutes of sunlight left before the clouds rolled in and turned this morning cold and gray.
Another park and another bike path, but no one is out cycling at this time of the morning.

Taken on the first morning in October, while out hiking in a local nature reserve.
I'm always thankful for a nice place to sit and rest.
I found this single rose in one of the arboretum's rose gardens, which had fallen over and was resting on a granite boulder.
I enjoy photographing stormy skies, but this time I got wet.
Taking a break from the fall color photos for something a bit more monochrome.
One lone tree showing off its fall colors in the bright, early morning sunlight.
Up close and personal with a grand old maple tree.
A break in the trees let in the early morning light.
