The Light of Things Hoped For... Uploaded: 11/26/06 6:33 AM GMT

Image: The Light of Things Hoped For...

I was riding my bike in the brisk autumn evening of yesterday, when I pulled aside into a field to capture the sunset. Seeing an untouched dandelion in full bloom inspired me. Theres actually a bit of depth to the title of this one... that I won't go into right here. I hope you enjoy it :)

hello Jeff, thanks for your comment on "The path" to answer your question I used a tool in photoshop called 'gradation layer'. it's very effective when you want to see quickly how a picture would look with different gradation applied to them. After, I usually use the 'blend mode' to see what different effect the gradation would have on the pic^^

Hi Jeff, Thanx for the comment. Yes we had good rain, and I think the brown colour is due to the rain we had about 3 days before I took that photo. I'm glad you like it.. as a matter of fact, i'm on my way to the same cascades right now. Hope to find a good shot there again.

Fiesta was great! It's always so colorful and wild. I did snap several shots at the parade wich turned out better than I thought. I also snapped some at Niosa, it's the celebration at what was originally "downtown" when SA was founded. It's basically one huge party. Everyone wears beads and the women and girls wear coronas-crowns made of flowers...so of course I wore 2. I guess I am being shy about posting, which is new for me. I'm not usually shy or quiet about anything. But it's like letting someone see a part of me. You can tell alot about people through their art. Maybe soon...

Yep, finally! I got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 (I think-too lazy to go get it out my purse and check) which came with some bells and whistles. It's a good camera for a beginner like me. So, like I said, I've just been trying things out. I'll be going to my parents for the 4th of July and I should be able to get some good shots out on their property. Cross your fingers for me!

Thanks for the wonderful comments on 'Hole in the sky'. The sky was really beautiful that day. These strom clouds were rolling in and the further I walked in one direction, the darker it got. But then looking in the other direction, the sky was still blue and sunny. It was like the sunny sky was being overtaken. I have another (broader) shot of this that I'll post later. Thanks again!

You remember the great fire from 1979 that supposedly started in your garage where that chipmunk ingested some fertilizer and fell into a can of kerosene, instantly turning into a flying little fluffy little molotov cocktail that set a blaze leveling the whole neighborhood west of Newton's Hardware Store?

Not in Bermuda but the Bahamas and British West Indies. It was a very long time ago, I was quite a bit younger, still a teen at the time. But I remember how that water looked. We flew over the triangle though :)

That's where to go for the HDR downloads. There is a free trial one and apparently people ignore the agreement about the little logo on their images. (Shhh) You'll see. I haven't had time to read the tutorial thoroughly yet so I didn't do so well on my first try. I'll get it though. It's not physics! lol!
Enjoy,

Hey, my friend Jan reccomended to download Neat Image as well to clean up the HDR results. She says it does better than PhotoShpop. I think she's really talented. She was the first one to post a message on my profille if you wanted to see her gallery. It's well worth the look. Try to find... um, I think it was called Whitney Abby or something like that. Good HDR example. Gotta go now but will be back tonight. See ya!

Yes. It's me again. Hey thanks for your compliment and input on "Peaceful Early Morning" Yeah, I thought about waiting to post it after I figured out the HDR thing to add some drama to the sky but I have other shots from that same morning that I thought I'd do that to instead. I kinda liked the peaceful feel of it but I think maybe you were right. I could have at least adjusted the contrast and/or lighting in PhotoShop. I appreciate the observation, thanks that was helpful. :)

No there's a way to do a mock HDR with one photo. Go back and read the tutorial or article on the site.

The Tiled Building is in Mexico City near the Pallacio del Bellas Artes (what street exactly I have no Idea but you can see the building from the Pallacio). As far as I know (which is very little)it was the only building of its kind in the area, but the entire area down to the Federal Square is filled with fascinating structures old and new.

Hey Jeff thanks for your constructive critisim. Upon further inspection the picture is very dark and could use some level adjustments. It's hard to tell when editing a picture from an LCD monitor. You look at it from the top and it's too light, look at from the bottom and it's too dark. That's why I like to stay with the old school shit. Thanks again, and stop by anytime.
Jay.

Hi Jeff, thankyou for your comment on 'Red Sky at Night' i am glad you liked it. I didnt use the automatic settings on the camera but i didnt tweak them too much. The automatic settings made the sky look much too bright and lost the colour of the sky so i speeded up the exposure time to let less light in and therefore make the picture darker. That way i got the darker feel, more intense colours and more dramatic windmill silouette :)
