Hi Julia, thanks for your comment on Arch of Septimus Severus. To translate my comment for you.....the Roman Forum was the centre of Ancient Rome, the city centre if you like. In it were the law courts, temples to the Gods, and the roman senate where political decisions were made. Also enclosed in the forum is Palantine Hill, which is one of the 7 hills of Rome that the city is famed to be built on. This is where the Roman Emperors used to live and they will build progressively more and more grand palaces as they tried to out do each other. The word 'palace' is derived from the latin word 'palantine' because of this. Hope this makes sense now!!
