I started this thread for one pure reason; there are fantastic images on Caedes, talented photographers, and outstanding graphic designers. With all the images sent into Caedes every day I sometimes find myself seeing the same sort of pictures coming through again and again.
Basically, this thread is a place to post those images that you think stand out from the rest, that moved you completely and stick out in your mind. They could be because of strong emotion conveyed, a completely different take on something, or something that is rarely seen on the Caedes site.
It moved me ... for one ... I love these sort of captures, then I found the texture of the rope intriguing, & the bit of lighting made it all that more special. Whether the rope is part of a ship or placed on a docking pier got my imagination going. Was the rope holding something together or what was it bound to? The capture itself is composed superbly. It's definitely one of my most "favorites" on Caedes.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
Both images are fantastic. "Rope" is a great texture shot, and for some reason the light on the rope, straight on the knot, makes me think of it as almost a heart. Not sure why.
Vermillion Lakes, another fantastic piece, one of the photos I never seem to have the joy of encountering in the voting booth. Every aspect of it is technically correct and extremely aesthetically pleasing. Both are going to my faves. Thanks for sharing =D
Here's one I think is super special. It's simple & dramatic & the shadow play is just unbelievable. Really my type of photograph. Be prepared to be amazed.
I saw that photo of Nigel's and was duly impressed as well Lauren.
Here's a new'ish member's visual offering (just recently started posting to the site, although he has been a member for a couple of years) ... or one of, and this one, as they say, jumped out of the new images at me ... "Between fog".
Really liking the bisecting of the image along the two opposing diagonal axes.
Light and shadow on one hand and then, although not quite as proportionately divided as that of the light and shadow ... terra firma and the atmosphere on the other. Very nice work to my eyes and very evocative as well.
All set up and enhanced by the main tree and it's branches within the image's composition.
That "Between Fog" was a fantastic photograph Les, you're 100% right.
I loved the mood it portrayed, & I fully expected to see a medieval knight to come riding out of the mist. I just wish it hadn't been so heavily framed, but that's just me being nitpicky.
" A citizen can hardly distinguish between a tax and a fine, except that the fine is generally much lighter."
G. K. Chesterton.
You are neither taxed nor fined if you look at My Gallery.
Hmm...I'm going to have to choose 3 on this one!! My very absolute favorite shot of all-time, Heaven on Earth, and two close behind...El Diablo and The Edge.
For Heaven on Earth specifically, I think its a study of texture, motion and composition. The flow of the water against the still, mossy rocks...all framed perfectly by the green leaves. The red leaves inject so much extra into the shot that just sets it above the rest for me.
One item on my "bucket list" is to visit every National Park in the United States. So far, 2 are in the book. Please check out my website for all my shots from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
I've been reading your thread a few days now. I'm too green and star struck at the moment to single out any. Too many too choose at the moment... Very interesting to see through others eyes. I did want to add how much I also admire "Between Fog", but the frame bugged me so much I took it off for my desk top. It made quite a difference and eliminated some of the contrast of the dark and light fog. Nice thread.
There are just so many that have really hit me over the years I've been here that it's hard to choose just a few but HERE is one I still remember for its' simplicity and emotional impact.
And I really like the drama 'about to happen any moment' in THIS one.
And of course you all knew it was just a matter of time before I introduced fractals and abstracts into the mix.
One of the most overlooked style of fractal, & my personal favorite, is a minimalist. I just love these types of fractals, and abstracts in general actually, & they are very overlooked in my personal opinion.
Minimalistic art comes in many shapes & forms & I think it's a shame we don't have a gallery here at Caedes for it... I did try for one a couple of years ago but maybe I didn't try hard enough because it never happened.
At any rate .... my first fractal choice.... something not quite there but one I really like. Take a close look at " V " , but full screen please
It's deceptively simple I think, elegant & I really like that smokey blue John used too.
Ah yes, I was expecting somebody to bring up fractal work at some point =D
I really do like the calmness and simplicity there. Something about the curves reminds me of something that I can't quite place which is a weird way to describe it yes but I honestly cannot place it.
Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days, I got losted =/
Does anyone know of any good artists here on Caedes with any good pieces involving people?
Can be people close to them, from different cultures, etc.
If it's photos you're looking for I would suggest you take a look in Pierre's gallery...and some lovely people shots with some effects added can be found HERE.
