This photo was the result of a fortunate mistake, as I clicked the button just a moment late and caught this controlled explosion instead of my intended mark. The reason I love this image is the contrast between dark and light flames on either side of the image. On a related note, when reduced in size during viewing the image takes on a pseudo-3D quality, with the dark and light flames appearing at different depths.
