Flowing out of the popular Desolation Wilderness in the western Sierra Nevada, Pyramid Creek tumbles over spectacular Horsetail Falls and into a series of smaller but equally dramatic cataracts and cascades. The river flows directly from Avalanche Lake in the Desolation Wilderness area West of Lake Tahoe. It is located at 38°49′40.28″N 120°7′23.87″W.
