Hiking the Continental Divide Trail on the east side of Glacier National Park, we followed Virginia Creek, passed St. Mary Falls, and climbed the lower feet of Little Chief Mountain, turning around at Virginia Falls. The water there drops down through a rock chute about 6 feet across, pouring down to a pool approximately 30 feet below. To get this photo I extended my tripod all the way, folding the legs in, pre-focussed my shot and set my timer at 10 seconds, then released the shutter and held the camera out over the drop, keeping it as steady as possible and hoping my confidence in my Bogen-Manfrotto gear was well-placed. It might look bizarre at first but, when you realize what it is and what it took to get it, some appreciation might set in. 6.02-9
