Yesterday I posted an image of one of the horses in the historic Prairie Rose Carousel, located in Wahpeton, North Dakota. The link in that post talks about the history of this merry-go-round, while this link provides you with the motion of the carousel and the music of this (photo's) calliope system of organ and drums. After visiting the Chahinkapa Zoo across the parking lot, we treated our granddaughters to a ride on the "Rose", and although I am now 70, this was the first time I ever rode on one (in one of the "chariots"). As a boy we had no money for things like carnival rides, so I had to enjoy the ride by watching others with more coins in their pockets. Ah, well... c'est la vie.
