History of the construction of Castle Hoensbroek. During the work activities undertaken to restore the Castle, the foundations were discovered of five clearly differentiated structures and building periods for the Castle. These building periods can be summarized as follows: 1 – The remains of the fortified house dating from ca. 1250. 2 – The round tower, remains of a structure dating from ca. 1360. 3 – The addition of the right front tower dating from ca. 1500. 4 – The great renovation of 1643. 5 – The modernization dating from ca. 1720. And the amazing thing is, that when you wander around in this castle you can actually see all that history! Now where can you find such a building today?
