Each year I struggle to remember what settings I've used to capture fireworks. This year was one of my better years, though I didn't think so while I was taking the pictures. I started with ISO 100 at twilight, but switched to ISO 400 as it got darker. My aperture was F/13 the whole night. A tripod is a must. I varied from 1 second to 4 second exposures, though this one says it was an 8 second exposure. The long exposure allows me to trigger the camera when I see a streak of a firework going off and end up combining several in one shot. (And I can enjoy the show while the camera is recording.) A wide angle lens keeps me from having to guess just where the optimal center of the picture has to be -- cropping can be done later.
