When Elephants Roamed on the Beaches of Marmara was photographed in (about) 1970 in Karamürsel, Turkey. This picture was transferred from a slide and clearly shows its age, damages, and assorted other problems. I was stationed there for a year and a half.

We did not know each other back then, but my friend Tick was stationed at a similar base in Brindisi. Between the two of us, we were able to defeat the red armies and preserve freedom for the world. Not too bad, huh?
