Hans (Dutch_postings) asked me two days ago about the statue which was to be seen at my 'Zeeland Coast (07), Sea Front at Flushing' image. It's the statue of the Dutch admiral Michiel Adriaanszoon de Ruyter. This image gives a better view of this statue. This year it's 400 years ago that de Ruyter was born in Flushing, Zeeland. On that occasion this year in Holland is called 'The Year of de Ruyter', with a lot of special events. De Ruyter was deadly wounded in a sea-battle near Syracuse (Italy) in 1676.
