This is the statue of Frans Naerebout (1748-1818) at the Bellamy Park in Flushing. Naerebout was not only a pilot but a rescuer of people from ships in troubles as well (even in heavy storms), had a great courage and no fear. In Holland we have still nowadays the saying 'Onverschrokken Naerebout'. It's said to a person who can't be frightened at all.
