The construction of this townhall steeple in Gothic style in Veere, Zeeland, the Netherlands, was completed in 1477. In 1591 a carillon (first 20, but later 47 bells) was added to the steeple and is playing up till now. Playing the carillon can be done either in an automatic way or by a carillonist. When played automaticly, for instance twice an hour (only on the daily hours), a different tune can be heard every time that the carillon plays. Playing the carillon by a carillonist (concerts with a duration of about 1 hour) take place once a week in the summer and once a fortnight in the winter. The carillon adds a lot to the cosy atmosphere in the little town of Veere.
