This night shot was taken on December 13th, 2025 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, during the 14th edition of the Amsterdam light festival (from November 14th, 2025 till January 18th, 2026). This time the theme of the festival is 'Legacy'.

The picture shows the artwork 'Swans' created by Jon Voss. The pair of swans, seemingly floating peacefully above the Herengracht canal, was captured in the moment just before they take off, flying into the future. According to Voss: "Swans, which pair for life, symbolize love and the unbreakable bond two creatures can share."

Voss worked with stainless steel and plexiglass for this artwork, creating a work of art full of elegance and movement. The swans share over 400 feathers, and despite their light appearance, the pair is anything but weightless: each swans weighs approximately 500 kilograms.
