This image shows the medieval alley, called 'Muurhuizen' (only available in the Dutch language) in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. The alley is built on the foundations of the city's first medieval city wall.
After the construction of a second city wall around 1380, the old walls were demolished starting in 1450, and the houses were built using the salvaged materials.
The alley features approximately 60 national monuments (historic architecture).
