Great blue herons have been known to stay in the same position for a long time, making an impatient photographer keep on walking after a while. Well, not this photographer. I have been known to wait a half hour or longer to obtain that elusive shot. This beauty had the look of the takeoff. After you watch them long enough, you learn to notice the signs of fear in your herons. Once you know that, it makes it that much easier to get the action shot you were waiting for ... just don't miss it when you get that chance! I hope you all enjoy one of my favorite big birds. I can watch them and shoot them all day long!
