i found this interesting hybrid about to hit the market, and it looks like a tempting alternative to DSLR's especially seing how entry-level models dont come close to what this baby can do... comments suggestions retorts, etc if you please

it's just the new Panasonic Lumix in its party clothes so buy that instead and save yourself several hundred dollars.

similarly, the compact Leica version - the Leica D-Lux 3 - is the same camera as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 compact and the hideously expensive Leica Digilux 3 with interchangeable lenses is the same as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1. In all instances the Lumix models are about two thirds the price of the Leica equivalents.

Panasonic and Leica have been cooperating for some time now for their mutual benefit. If it’s a Leica you want then you might have to look at The LEICA M8 . Now that one is pricey at about $7500 au. I have read a couple of reviews where they raved over its picture quality though.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross
