Morat's Assignment #3

We can use our cameras and find repetition. Things are looking good, but now it's time for assignment number 3. Hmm, the third assignment. What could possible be a good subject for a third assignment?

Third. Hmm.

Oh come on, I'm not that obvious. That would be far too straight forward, let's have some diagonal thinking.

Apparently, using diagonals in the composition makes the image more dynamic. Let's find out. Your assignment is to create an image demonstrating the use of diagonals in the composition.

That's it, straight up :)

Hey! I do this at the same time you guys do :).

It just so happens that I do though. I've just uploaded an image called "Benches" that I took on my hols a couple of weeks back. I can't link it until it's been moderator approved though.

hmm I looked at "Benches" and I'm having a hard time understanding this one, are we looking for diagonal lines in the photo or maybe an arrangement of objects in a diagonal line. Or all of the above?

It looks to me like the pics are to have the objects in diagonal lines...

I think the point is to use diagonal lines or leading lines correct?

Not exactly as described, but maybe this could inspire something, perhaps.

Hmm. Looks like this one hasn't exactly set the world on fire :). I've been having some trouble finding something I really liked myself.

I took Going Down at the Yorkshire Show last week and it's as close as I've got so far.

This one has the repetition of the last assignment, but I think the strong diagonals make it work here, too. What do you think?

I agree, the perspective really leads your eye in to the picture.

It's been open a while, and it's time to bring this one to a close. Thanks to all who took part.

This is one assignment I'll keep in mind for future shots. The dynamics of strong diagonals have real ability to lift an image out of the ordinary.
