If *caedes had started this topic... he just may have begun with a promise that most likely not all suggestions (if any) would/could be put into effect... :o)
Since the can of PM worms had been opened (elsewhere)... would it be possible to have one Edit a PM once it had been sent but not yet received? Also, after a bit of a bad experience in Caedes For a Day... good thing I had not typed in a long comment... I had finished my comment there but had not posted it... when I decided to subscribe to the discussion... and lo & behold my comment was gone... is it possible to have only the one line with subscribe refreshed to un-subscribe? Or perhaps better yet, have 2 Post this Comment buttons... along with a subscribe/un-subscribe button! [Post this Comment] [Post&Subscribe] [Subscribe/Un-subscribe] There is room under the comment box. I think those buttons would be much more visible and accessible than where they are currently... especially in a discussion of some length¿! :o) Anyway, just food for thought!
Edit: Plus I usually only decide to Subscribe to a discussion once I have reached the end of the messages... so again I think it would be handier to have the subscribe/unsubscribe at the end.
And yet another... when I edit these comments, I can get an End-of-line but when I edit my Description of a posted image I cannot. Would that be something that could be modified? It really helps in making things more presentable! :o)
Guess what¿: If an edit is done to a subscribed comment, is a trigger engaged to make this known to all who are subscribed?
it's pretty funny, Con, that I too have written a rather long post to a discussion only to subscribe to the discussion before posting AND have thought that having a "line break" (if I can call it that) on the description of an image would be really helpful. I just never remembered to bring it up! Thanks..I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on these suggestions.
Phewww... perhaps the Negative Space contest had a positive effect! Yet another idea... *caedes, is it possible to allow us to subscribe to a gallery or sub-gallery? I know it is not absolutely necessary, but it could be a nice touch... not only for contests but for interest groups like Caedes, Fractal, Space and others. One side effect could be to get people to move on sooner since they may not be searching. :o)
I'm not sure if this is specific to my browser (Safari) or the site (I suspect the site since no other sites do this for me)... but if I have typed out something and then accidentally go somewhere else on the site for any reason at all, hitting the back button returns me to the page I was typing on with my text still sitting there waiting for me.
Yeah, Firefox works the same way as well...but I'm pretty sure if you hit subscribe it will still wipe out anything you've typed and going back won't bring it back.
BUT! If you are typing text for a comment and you decide to subscribe to the conversation before saving the comment, you cannot get your text back.... if you hit back page, you will be brought to the list of discussions within the group you are entered! If you had clicked on FAQS or anything else, yes, you could simply go back and find your text.... but not if/when you click on subscribe! :o)
Edit: As a matter of fact... I just saved the preceding comment and I was sent back to the list of discussions!... :o( And upon saving this edit... I stayed right here!
