Oh! So much for knowing how to make a link, I see the one I posted does not work right! I need help, if someone would be so kind as to teach me these things, I'd surly appreciate it! : )
you can practice in any comment you've made (edit)
PS .. it appears that you pasted your entire link into the "label" section .. if you point your mouse at your link, you will see the ASDF.com in the status bar of your browser
Oh, and by the way, when I point my mouse at my link, it doesn't show me the ASDF.com. Must be a Mac thing again! : ) It's ok though, I have got this all figured out thanks to you Keifer! I really appreciate your time and effort in showing me how to participate in Caedes with better communication skills!
Alright, just as I was feeling like a smarty pants, I have a problem. I have a "> showing up in my italic, underlined link. (Yes, I was trying to be really fancy). I've troubleshot it and can't figure it out. Here's the link
and here's my coding using @ instead of a and capitals for the i and u:
I posted a picture of a ">male Muscovy earlier tonight.
I'll try again, this time I inserted a space in the middle of http:
I posted a picture of a "><I><U><@ href="ht tp://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=Riverside-1244424545.jpg">male Muscovy</@></I></U> earlier tonight.
Ok, I found it, I know, I know. . . .I could drive a sane man nuts! My apologies, this is like learning Greek the first go around! (No offense to anyone that has already learned Greek)
assuming martie did, indeed, figure it out ... it looks like you wanted to italic and underline your label .. and you followed the rules for modifying words
(ie: <*><*>WORDS</*></*>)
so you tried to put those opening brackets in front of the "link" code
ie: <*><*><@ href=".......
instead of using the alternate end-link code
ie: .. "><I><B><U>HERE</I></B></U></A>
which just goes at the end, and not in front of and behind
the simplest thing is to copy the relevant parts to a text file .. I've never bothered to memorize the linking code
looking at your 'sig' .. you are using an uppercase "A" ... *caedes has only activated the lowercase letters .. so, therefore, I can use uppercase to "teach" the code .. because it allows it to be seen .. it's possible that you copied one of those examples, thinking it would work
<@ href="
">HERE</@>
copy these to a text file and make the changes (@=a) .. then just copy them from your text file when you need them
or memorize them .. my cerebral ram is in short supply
lol @ Jackie ! Seriously, that's what I did, copied a working link to a text file & now I just copy & paste it whenever I need it, I just change the URL as needed.
LOL.. actually if you notice there is blue linkies on there, just another way of showing what you can link.. ;) Well it's a good excuse don't you think??
but, most people make a word that is a link, for instance in a Comment, they might link to Wikipedia. Can someone tell me how to do that?
Thanks!
