I've noticed the last couple of times I've been in the VB there have been quite a few really old images in there. I'm not complaining, just wondering whether this is a glitch in the system or a modification to it?
You bring up an interesting point Kelcey. I have noticed the same thing and have given it some thought. If your image is constantly in the VB, then your score constantly changes to reflect the attitude of the times. If your image stayed in the VB for only a set period of time, the score reflects the attitudes of only the small slice of time. Which one would I prefer? I know I would prefer to have a ongoing VB score rather than a slice of time. The rise or fall in the score would encourage me to adjust my style and presentation skills to take advantage and meet the expectations of the current environment. To accept a score from just a set slice of time means, I was Hot yesterday, and thats the way it will be forever. When in reality, today, I am no better than room temperature. So if it is a glitch, lets keep it.
I just had one from 2005 which has been viewed more than 2500 times! But my image form four days ago stays at a constant 4 votes and the one from two days ago at a steady 2 (from what I see in Caedes Control). Mods please check!
I have wondered the same about the VB. Perhaps it is to reflect from what we have learned from others on this site, and maybe we have changed our minds either yay or nay towards different works?? Seems a bit weird though.
Methinks it is kind of funny *not as haha funny* to see the old pictures back in the VB, it makes us aware of what we are doing here and I think that's a good good thing.
I had some pictures from 2005 and older, I really did enjoy them, I would never have seen those pictures if they were not in the VB. So methinks it is a good think to have them in the VB.
Just let it be a mix in the VB of old and new!!!!
(And besides you all want a high C-score, so this is your chance...lol..
*just kidding here :oP*)
As Lyn has pointed out above, here is the LINK to the page where Caedes himself has explained this. Frankly I also don't see the point in voting on 3 or 4 year old images. In the last 3/4 years the technique of photography has improved a lot and also the photo editing softwares have come out with new methods for editing photos. An image that would have received a C-Index of 80 4years ago will probably end up between 60 and 70 today.
There are currently 3 discussions on the boards about this same subject running concurrently. Please try to check all other discussions prior to starting a new one.....here is *caedes answer dated today August 10,2009 at approx 4PM CST.
We will only be getting the old ones for a short amount of time. Eventually, there will only tend to be new images in the voting booth. This is because the longer an image is around, the more votes it will get, and we choose images for the voting booth based in part on how many votes they have.
