In case anybody here missed it, I'm a baker and a cook. I enjoy fooling around w/stuff and making it not just edible but enjoyable. So what's going on in your kitchen?
Me, tonite, I'm testing a couple of apple breads with the assistance of my lovely husband, that we'll give one as a present as soon as we settle on a recipe. With the recipe. 8)
I only enjoy cooking where I can shove the thing in the oven and forget about it until it's ready. Anything that you have to stand over to make sure it doesn't bur, or add stuff to at certain points, usually gets burned or doesn't get stuff added to it. Baking works for me... I also go through periods (usually in winter) of using the slow cooker a lot... very rewarding I find to be able to put something on at lunch time, forget about it, and have a very hearty meal ready for dinner.
Not at this time of year... hot enough already (except for christmas, of course, when for some absurd reason we still insist on bringing out the steamed pudding, roast lunch, hot fruit mince pies etc... and sit around in 40 degree heat stuffed to the gills and sweating like hogs)
FRESH watercress} : I chop smaller to avoid looking/feeling like a goat whilst eating :)
Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, pine nuts, { I slice the strawberries}, and all are mixed into the watercress. Squeeze juice of one lemon {or lime}{I used a meyer's lemon}, all over salad: Then distribute ACTIVIA {or yogurt of your choice} all over..as a dressing. STRANGELY, as much as PRUNES ICK ME OUT, I use PRUNE activia...and it goes together VERY nicely...really compliments this salad.
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away Tell me what made you that way
You've made me hungry now! Looking further up the thread at stuff about baking, I realized the other day I'm a cross baker. I can't fiddle with things like cookies (brushing, scattering sugar, shaping...) I get bored and annoyed, then start throwing ingredients around in clumps. I don't suppose it's my thing!
