God Bless The Child

Why was my image 'God Bless The Child' rejected? I received the following message about it:

Your recently uploaded image (God Bless The Child) has been rejected by an ImageMod.

Your image was rejected due to a violation of the Caedes Code of Conduct. I advise you review the Code of Conduct so there will be no misunderstandings in the future. If you have any questions, feel free to message an Image Moderator. We will be more than happy to clear up anything you are not sure about. Thanks.

I reviewed the code and still don't see what I did wrong. The only thing I can possibly think is some question about the framing? If more info were required as to how the framing was done why not ask for more info and put the image temporarily in limbo instead of just outright rejecting it?

And why doesn't the particular image mod who rejected it identify themselves so I know just who to ask more about this...instead of me sending out PM's to all the mods who may or may not be available at this time or know anything about it?

In general, often the mods only have so much time to do approvals, etc. and having to send a pm would slow down the process, and our goal is to expedite the process. If a mod has the time, they will sometimes send a pm at that time, but it's generally expected that members are aware of what is uploadable, and that it was likely an oversight on their part.

However, we do know that sometimes there is still stuff that gets missed/not understood, and any mod will either know or be able to find out quickly, so we encourage asking if you're not understanding after reviewing your image. But we do encourage that you pm *1* mod, rather than however many are online, etc. If you don't get a response within 24 hours, then please go ahead and pm another one.

Ok, thanks for your response, Cat, both here and via PM...I do think however, that when time permits some kind of discussion on a discussion board about the code of conduct might be helpful as there seems to be some gray areas for some of us...obviously we all know not to rip images off the internet, post nudity, images with product names etc. but when it comes to some things we might not even imagine that we are in violation...I'll leave it at that for now then and thanks again.

fwiw, I and other mods have posted several times, both reminders and about specific areas that many members seem to be misunderstanding. To a certain extent, this is helpful, and to a certain extent, there is still not enough to prevent misunderstanding and probably never will be, which is why we are open to being asked for more specific details when an image is rejected. I know it can feel like you just got stomped on when you get an image rejected, but I will say that on this end, on average the assumption is that nothing nefarious was intended, it was simply a mistake/misunderstanding. 8•)

As with Pat, I had a photo rejected by an ImageMod, and am perplexed as to why, even after reading, yet again, the Code of Conduct. Simply, it was a photo that I took of a benign Christmas tree ornament, with a comment wishing those who celebrated it, a Merry Christmas and for those who do not peace and joy. I would like an explanation of why it was rejected from the one who pulled it off the site.

I think Pat hit on one of the reasons members are leaving. Seems to me the mods jobs have been greatly lightened due to the dramatic decrease in uploaded images, so image rejection shouldn't take up a great deal of time.
At the time one of those comments is sent by an image mod, it would take a few seconds longer to indicate the primary reason for the rejection rather than have the member have to hunt down one mod after another for an explanation. It is possible that one mod may not have a clue as to why another mod rejected an image also.

Members do not have to ask more than one mod. We speak to each other and information is readily available to the mods as to why an image was rejected. In Thad's case, I was unfortunately delayed in answering him, but every other person who has messaged me has gotten an answer within 24 hours.

But wouldn't it just be easier to offer a one or two sentence explanation when you first send the notice?

No. It's a single click process, which sending a separate pm is not. At a mod's discretion they may choose to send a pm to give additional explanation, but especially for long-standing members it is more expected that they are familiar with the rules and have made a mistake which they will find themselves upon review.
