Purple Candies by rahto has been selected as this week's Image of the Week!

This image is a study in subtly unusual things. From the upside down butterfly and seeing the underside of its wings rather than the spread across the back to the color focal point of the flower. While insects and butterflies are often captured in and on different of nature aspects, they are usually the focus. Here, the clarity of the image does show off the details of the butterfly, down to the antennae*, it still does some chameleon work to blend into the similarly colored background. Meanwhile, the Alpine Betony flower could stand alone on the strength of that same clarity and detail with the additional contrast of color against the background; but it doesn't. In combination, it creates an unusual and fascinating shot.

*Okay, this is how I originally noticed that the butterfly was upside down. I was trying to figure out what that thing was and then had a big old "D'oh!" moment.
