Uploading Trouble

I've been trying to upload a photo for two days now but whenever I try it doesn't work. I enter in all the information like usual, and then when I click "Upload" it takes a very long time for the page to change. When it does change, it isn't the "Thanks for uploading ya-da-ya-da" screen, it's just completely white. Help! Thanks...=)

The white page is most likely the About: Blank page. My guess is that it's either a problem with internet connections or a Firewall.

It doesn't say About:Blank anywhere though...I thought usually it said that somewhere. It just says "Done" in the corner. *confusion*

It's a "bitmap image"....should it be something else? I don't know how to change that but I'll work on it.

Make sure the image is one of the following sizes: 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x1024, 1600x1200.. JPEG or PNG are the prefered image formats.

It's a JPEG image and it is 1600x1200. I havn't changed any firewall settings or anything since I last uploaded...it doesn't make much sense. Aw well, maybe a different picture will work. I just won't upload this one. =)

If you go the image (as you do when you try to open it or upload it), right click on the image and click "properties" in the drop down menu. Right below the name of the image, it should tell you what type (format) the image is (BMP, JPEG, etc.) Wen

Laurel,
I had that same battle some time back. I emptied my cache as KEIFER suggested. That's a good suggestion but in my case it didn't solve the problem. At the time, I was using Firefox for my browser. So, I thought, "Well, I change browsers." I went to Internet Explorer. Although it acted differently, I still couldn't get my picture to load. I have three computers in my house. I says to myself, "Self, I'll go to another computer". Get this...on a completely different computer, I still encountered the same problem (my pictures would not load. After a long wait, I would only get a blank white page)...and yet again on a third computer. I began to think the problem must reside with Cades. To make a long story short, the problem did not reside with Caedes. The problem could be with Java script. An internet query asked me if I had the latest version of Java script? Before I could look into that (which may have been the problem) I discovered another browser-NETSCAPE! I thought, "Well heck, I'll try Netscape." I downloaded it and one of the things Netscape asked me was, "Do I want to import settings and blah, blah, blah from my other browsers?" I thought about that and I said to myself, "Hell no. I've had nothing but trouble from my other browsers". So I installed Netscape, clean as a bean with no import of settings from anywhere else..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...I have not had a problem since...NOT ONE. And I love Netscape. Try it. See if this cures the problem for you. I never have gone back to my other browsers tosee if Java Script was the problem or whatever. I should do that, but I have been so happy with Netscape, I just have not taken the time. Hope this helps.

Let's recap ...

1) .. it's JPEG or PNG .. ??

2) .. correct dimensions .. ?? .. sorry, but you're sure about keeping width and height straight?

3) .. you have NO reason to think the file was corrupted during saving .. (you've looked at it with a couple programs) ??

4) .. it's not a 16 bit image .. ?? .. and IS an 8 bit image .. (has to do with number of colors .. don't know if the site accepts 16 bit color)

... if you're using photoshop cs .. go to the "image" menu .. MODE .. (check for RGB color and 8 bit checkmarks)

5) ... It's not a picture of ME is it.. ?? .. there's NO need for me to explain why that wouldn't work .. the site is about beauty and light

Dr. Pepper ... ok, Laurel, if I may ... as a suggestion, cause who doesn't love a good mystery ... are you aware of the security settings in your IE browser?

Again, by going into the drop down menu Tools--->Internet Options and then looking through the 'Tabs' of Security and Content and and ... what I would suggest and this is a two parter ... once there, click on the 'Advanced' tab and in the bottom right, click on restore defaults and give 'er a go.

Next, since you last uploaded, have you installed any new programs or stuff? Do you have an anti-virus program and anti-spyware as well? Run those scans and see if anything comes up.

The last resort, is to PM Caedes directly, and tell him in as much detail as you can what has happened and when, and perhaps he can check the server logs and determine where the problem lies.

'K, hope this helps.

Uhm ... one last thing ... why Dr. Pepper? Enquiring minds want to know.
Well, ok ... I am just being nosy now. :oP

Well...I managed to get a different picture uploaded. Hmm. I did it fast though just to see if it would work, so its not very good. =)

Dr.Pepper.....that's a very good question. When I was 13 I couldn't think of a email address, so that's the one I picked randomly. And somehow it stuck...now it's plastered all over my room, my soccer stuff, everything. And all my screennames online. =)

I could be wrong, but i think you may need to insure some of the jpg settings are right when you save it. I think there are some different color profiles and some other things like that can make a jpg differ and some of these are not accepted by the site. I don't know much more then that, so someone will need to add something to this so you can acctually go about checking into that. Does anyone know what color profiles and such are accepted by the site?
