In this shot of the Nesting Series It's Survival of the Fittest. While Moms looking away one chick says to the other, let's get rid of the runt and there will be more food for us. Then they proceeded to do just that. They pecked at him continously until he fell out of the nest. Didn't take long for a neighborhood gator to have him for a snack. In the next pic I'll show him about to fall from the nest. Thanks in Advance to All Who View ,Comment, and Vote. Have A Great Day ! E J

Okay, I'm having trouble loading anything but thumbnails here but this pic looks great. I'll try again later. But I sure hope you're not going to post a picture of the end result of the poor chick with the gator.... I don't like that kind of nature photography. A Perfect World... remember?

Ok that's so sad and yet natural selection always prevails. they're so cute and fuzzy, guess the gator has to eat too.

awww that is very sad - first I laughed when I saw the image as the birds are so comical looking, but then I read your narrative and felt sad! ...but it is nature and how it happens, so well done on capturing it!

E.j. This is very sad but it is nature and it is harsh like i said in your other post. Please though I do agree with Donna I really would prefer not to see the end for this poor little guy. > ♫ :)sandi ♪

Now that I can load the pic I see it is really great. The two fighting/playing is especially nice.

Now you've got me curious as to how many chicks each bird usually has, as this little one in the front doesn't look like it's as well developed as the other two at any rate. Well, it's nice to sugar coat things, but nature and life are hard for all of us. You're sure doing a superior job on these uploads, my friend.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
