The Survival of the Fittest continue. Here the runt of the chicks has move to the edge of the nest trying to escape the other chicks which kept pecking at it's neck. The look on Mom's face is not pleasing. Lot's of noise now from all four. Sorry if these pics disturb you, but I just wanted to show what really happens in Nature. Thanks in Advance to All Who View, Comment, and Vote. Have A Great Day ! E J

Wow EJ, is a great capture, just sad one at the same time.

Scorpie is right, I think it's sad too but nature is being natural. It happens all the time but you've captured it in a still shot. Excellent work EJ. Just think of the National Geographic photographers and what they capture.

In nature there are sometimes other laws; a kind of natural selection. It's sad, but it happens.... Anyway you captured it very well EJ, great shot!

This is the harsh facts of nature for sure but you have captured it perfectly. I only hope the poor chickie makes it ok. >

Look...she even turned her back on them...can't stand to look at their ugly little kissers. Quick call the vomit truck I feel a spew coming on. Credit to you that you can look at them long enough to get such a fine pic.

Mom doesn't even seem to care. Oh, EJ, yeah those are the facts of life, but I'm not old enough to know about 'em yet!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Hi EJ, Nice photo - cruel but that is how nature is. We have in Berlin a polar bear pup which was discarded by the mother bear. He is being brought up by one of the keepers and now he is the star attraction at the zoo. One of the lucky orphans!
