Nice photo EJ. I had never heard of it so me and Mr. Google had a visit. I like it's mating habits. I don't think it's fair they do DNA fingerprinting to dispel the myth. As they said in the movie "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," when the myth is larger than the truth====print the myth. Sorry about getting off track. I do that now and again. The color is so rich. Very good. Does it turn into an Egret when it grows up? Google didn't say.
Wow is right! The colors in this are fabulous. I love the contrast of the bird against the Spanish moss. (I got that from alexis. LOL.) Great focus, as well.
Wait a minute...if this bird stands out so well against the background, then he probably won't last long. I think I need to follow the digital trail forged by Tick on Wikipedia to find out about this beautiful bird.
We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
Boat-Tailed Grackle only you Americans could use a name like that
A neat upload EJ the royal blue bird is so distinctive against the grey background .. seems everyone else share this view !!
Stunning photo. Still doesn't change my low opinion of the critter.
Well done, EJ. I'm going to miss following these for a few days. I have several things I need to address at the observatory before I jump across the pond.
