Friend of mine has a cabin on a small private lake, and this lone trumpeter swan was on the lake when we went there a couple days ago. Took this with my Canon A2000 pocket camera, and the zoom all the way out. It was as close as I could get to him, and in fact after I took a couple shots, he flew away. His takeoff brought him closer, but trying to capture him in flight at close quarters proved not to be easy. He then made a loop and flew back over us, and I did get one shot of him high overhead. I will post the others over the next few days. These are the kind of moments that make one wish he was more than a rank amatuer, LOL!

A nice far view of the swan, it would have been nice to have seen it close up, but what can you do given the situation. I like that tangled mass of trees and limbs in the background. A wonderful blue colour in the water contrasting nicely against the yellows of the shore grasses. Nice job.

In order to discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is; you're what's left.

I've never seen a swan outside of a zoo so count yourself blessed that this beauty showed himself at all. Good job under the circumstances!

Although the swan is a teensy bit too far away, I like the textures and the colors in your image. And I agree about wishing to be more than an amateur at moments like this one! ;-)

Good composition, but if the center object is a bigger will be better.

I would say you did good with the equipment you had on hand Larry. It is a good scene. You have to be happy with the state of basketball in Kansas.
