The Island on the Mur in Graz, Austria, is actually not an island at all, but an artificial floating platform in the middle of the Mur river. It was constructed by New York artist and designer Vito Acconci on the occasion of Graz becoming the 2003 European Capital of Culture. The building in the form of a giant sea shell measures 50m in length and 20m in width. Two footbridges connect it with both banks of the Mur. The center of the platform forms an amphitheatre. Below a twisted round dome there is a café and a playground.

This is amazing Sabine and you took it from such an interesting angle. The colors coming up from the dome lead the eye right to the steeples in the distance. Very well captured my friend. Good work.

Well this is something different, a floting bar ! and you can even leave your kids at the playground, when yourself are enjoying some beers !

The image is just great, i like the deep blue light, and the top, with the old church lighted out at night.

Such a study in contrasts with the old gold and the new blue. Lovely, Sabine.

What an unusual building Sabine. It makes a wonderful photo with the dome shapes, blue lights and the illuminated old architecture in the background.

Wow, it looks like a futuristic spaceship has landed in beautiful old world Austria. Great composition and clarity. Very nice contrast of two types of architecture as well. Diane
