This shot definitely suffered in the VB due to the size of the vb viewing thumbnail, at that size the bee would seem small, but at full size the value of your compositional choice is much more obvious. Putting the bee in the lower left corner, facing into the image, gives a hint of "bee with a big job ahead of it." The contrast of the dark bee on the white flowerbed is cool and effective. Your exposure captures plenty of detail of the dark bee but does not over expose the white flower. I'm not sure about this last comment but at full size It looks to me as if the flowers directly under the bee are marginally sharper than the bee, making the bee look a bit soft by comparison but the bee is not so soft as to be blurred. In terms of insects and flowers I think this shot deserves a higher than average c-index but the VB can be a bit of a lottery.

It is not "The powerful attack the weak." it is "The fearful attack what they fear."

I can agree with the comment of .Mythmaker on this shot. A really nice shot but the main subject which is the bee does seem blurred to me as well.

Thanks All.
@.Starite & .Mythmaker: You make very good points and I really appreciate the feedback/constructive criticism. In regard to the bee.. I do think he gets a bit fuzzy toward the top left but it looks mostly in focus to me. The wings have good detail as does most of the hair (esp. on his legs and rump). I wonder if it is the bee's actual physical fuzzyness that makes it seem less in focus??
