I went to the duck pond the other day intent on getting some photos of the waterfowl. Instead I found this fellow strutting his stuff on the shoreline presenting a more interesting photo-op. Though there were a couple of cormorants putting on quite the display that ran a close second. But they refused to be publicly photographed humiliating themselves.

I would like to apologize for not capturing the pigeon in it's natural habitat perched atop a statue. But all the statues in town were booked that day by a visiting group of starlings here on an exchange program.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Hi, Wendell....

You are hereby awarded one "wow" for fantastic clarity. Orange eyeballs? Is that normal? Mine are striped.

Technically this shot is spot on. You've managed to capture the colors on the back of his neck and his red boots. Depth of field is el perfecto as are focus and sharpness. The green grass and the turquoise blue water in the background can't compete with a guano covered statue, but capturing an animal in its natural habitat can be problematic. My first viewing of the evening. I hope the rest are this good.

Hey Wendell
He beats a common starling any day! Starlings dont strut their stuff like a good old fashioned pigeon does. I like the image a lot. Nice calm water with great color.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

A lovely view of your dinner here Wendell.
I hope those startlings cleaned up after themselves, as well.

Wendell - Starlings and pigeons - quite a choice for this day's photo outing! lol The pigeon will be just as pleased to leave its mark on the park lawn as on a statue. The chatter of the starlings can be hard on the ears, especially of a pigeon. The background - water and grass, contrasting themselves, offer an interesting contrast for the subject. Thad

From the look on it's face, it is on the ground practicing it's "I am afraid of heights" look, before it ventures off to find a tall statue. LOL. It's almost comical with that bulging orange eyeball. Excellent shot, Wendell.

Hello Wendell!

Very well done photo, the composition and position of your fellow is unique, just in the division of water and earth, the backgroud is very beautiful and your narrative, as always fun and captivating! :-) Have a very fluffy week my friend!

I have some more starlings that are looking for a place to land if you are interested Wendell.
The pigeon looks funny without a statue under him.
Good post.

Love your narrative, lol...nice shot though he seems a little uncertain and out of place near the water and not on a statue...thanks for sharing.
