I was wandering around the park one day and spotted this crow busying itself with something by the edge of the water. It was so engrossed in what it was doing that it didn't notice me until I was about 30 feet away and couldn't be bothered to fly off until I had halved the distance. It didn't take long to discover the crow had been enjoying a repast of water-soaked duck. Needless to say we did not exchange recipes. I moved on and the crow or some other random buddy of it returned to continue the feast.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

The reason they always fly when we approach is because they know guys like us have a lot of crow to eat Wendell. It is unusual to be able to get that close. You must have been watching your words of late. A good display of the cleansing of the earth.

Wendell - Yumm - Duck soup! And to think that you passed up this gourmet meal! I've read that crows identify people as friend or foe and react differently to each. You must be a friend to be able to get so close. Thad

MsCROW - always happy to see a great photo of my favorite creature! Crows get a bad rap, but they are very helpful in cleaning up leftovers! You got a nice clear shot of the crow's face and the blue shades make this a nice photo even with a dead duck in it! :)

I like very much the way that the crow is looking to you Wendell, it is fun! Love the night colors of its feathers, nice composition and sharp, very well done!

Can you check back with him, Wendell? I would love his recipe for water soaked duck. I wonder if it's similar to the water soaked mud hen that I saw at the lake this morning. He was missing his head which must be the first course in such fine dining. Since I'm not up on wines, I'm not sure if I should use red or white wine with mud hen head.

Very nice capture of a difficult subject. Black birds of any sort are too tough for me and these guys are like blue jays - they don't let you get very close.

I did notice a slight "halo" effect in your shot which I thought could only be achieved by abusing the backlight command in PhotoScape. I am very familiar with this command and abuse it regularly. I'm hoping to use this effect to my benefit when I get a shot of the elusive angel I keep seeing.

My only other comment is that you might consider using a funky border to chop off part of the bird's head or tail feathers since that would really make the shot different. :-)

Wendell this is one outstanding photo my friend. The detail and colours are a 100%.Love the cloudy water that works as a background, and also how you managed to capture the individual feathers in the bird, plus the blue in the birds feathers, and most of all the light in the birds eye.Well done.

Great close-up of this big fellow. I'm surprised he stayed put long enough for the shot. Awesome image.

Marvelous close up of this big crow, he's wondering what you're doing. Wonderful detail and like the clear water showing off the pebbles underneath
