Contrary to all appearances this was shot on a brilliantly sunny and what passes for a blistering hot in these parts day. Temperatures crawled into the low 30°C range and flies were seen to drop out of the sky. Well maybe not so much drop as descend in angry hoards to land on exposed skin and take honking big bites out of it before buzzing off, often times safely. Let's just say there were a lot of slap-happy fools wandering the fields that day, me perhaps the happiest of them all.:)

These wildflowers naturally belong to the "I have no idea what they are" species. Commonly found growing everywhere I happen to travel; whether it be the deepest darkest forest trail or in the middle of some formal garden. I manage to always come across some member of that family of flower. I never realized it had so many varieties.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Hi, Wendell...

No noise, dark blurred background, well focused and interesting subject matter, very good composition, good DoF. Nothing to complain about from me. Love your narrative as always. I thought every biting fly in the universe was in Atascadero. There's a line from an old song, "Everything is beautiful in its own way..." I don't see the beauty of those flies.

I played golf with a guy and his son one time while I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach. My dad was just riding along and keeping the conversation going. The flies were bad that day but they only seemed to be after the guy with his son. Finally he said they must be "shit eating" flies since they only bothered him. No reference to you intended.
I like the Bokeh in the background and the dark contrast of the background versus the bright flowers. They are everywhere here as well. They must be a wildflower.
Good post.

Very pretty Wendell. Nice depth and composition. Perhaps they are called daisies. They come in so many variations.

Great shot and DOF. Love the color of the blurred background contrasted by the sharp detail of the daisies in the foreground.
