The U.S. Coast Guard tall ship the Baroque Eagle. Or at least as near as I can tell that's the name of this fine vessel. I sort of, kind of forgot to check carefully for the name of the ship when I was taking the shot. Seem to recall seeing a sign hidden on the other side of it mostly blocked by tourists waiting to go aboard for a visit. How hard would it be to hang a shingle out on the bow, or maybe even paint the name on it. Government cutbacks I guess are deeper than previously thought.

Shot on the Halifax harbour waterfront from pretty much the only angle available for a full ship view with the lens I was using. The winds were high and the harbour choppy that day. I wisely chose to stay on dry land as my inner tube had sprung a leak earlier and my water wings were in the pawn shop. Otherwise I might have been tempted to board her.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

The ship posed just right for you Wendell. If you can't be safe on a U. S. Coast Guard ship then you better stay home.
What a perfect sky for this shot. You filled the frame perfectly.

Thanks to Wall Street and the idiots in Washington who cater to their greed, this is actually pronounced "Broke Eagle."

I am profoundly disappointed in your total lack of that well known Canadian spirit of adventure. Certainly a leaky inner tube could have handled the minimal chop in the water. Or what about taking 10 long steps backwards as you're 15 feet from the front of a 16 foot dock? If nothing else we could have got a fine shot of the sky as you toppled backwards into the water. Most of us would have forgiven you the motion blur if you had added a link to your narrative like this.

Wow, beautiful ship and a great capture. All those ropes scare me though. I just know if I was on that boat somehow they would get all tangled up and I'd have to straighten them all out.
