...or at least I'm assuming this is a photo of somewhere in the Cornish countryside. I could have searched google earth until my eyes dropped out of my head and never match it up. So instead I figured since the fine fellow who snapped this shot is fond of the Cornwall area. Then there is a good chance that this image depicts something he saw there on his last journey. It's not like he bothered giving me the particulars when he sent me this photo.

Anyhow, the gentleman in question wanted some tips/help on how to replace a sky in a photo. So I passed on what knowledge I possessed, scant as it were, on how it could be accomplished. I also sent along a reconstructed version for comparison purposes, but not the version seen here and he knows why, hmm!. He then gave me permission to post a version of the photo. Hope that clears up any rights issues.

So in addition to replacing the sky I did some masonry work on the wall and played around with the usual suspects of light, noise and colour. Unfortunately the penguins had to go. I know what you're thinking; there are no penguins in Cornwall. Well of course not, I removed them from the photo.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

So, Wendell, what's the deal with you and people named Roger. I wrote an article once called "The Roger Liss Theory of Nomenclature." The premise is simple and typically runs true although like any "Truth", there are exceptions. The premise of my article is that babies have no personality. Once they are named, they eventually start to share traits with other people of the same name. For example, people named Doug were quite handsome in their youth. They excelled in school, are bright and modest. Typically they have light brown hair. Wendell's oftentimes are similar to Sheldons although Sheldons are much nastier than Wendells. Rogers can be similar to Harolds, and Tinas tend to be overweight. Specifically, Rogers have trouble with skies in their shots. I asked you less than a month ago about dropping a sky into a shot. Bingo! There you have it. Case closed. Button it up. The End.

The Other Roger

P.S. Nice shot. Don't care for the sky though. :-)

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

I can see the cloning on the wall but all in all a good shot - the focus seems a little long for whatever lens your friend used.

Well Wendell I think you did a great job on your friends photo and the sky as improved a 100%.I also love the black block top and bottom in this scene too.The area looks very much like St Ives to me but I could be wrong. Well done to a great rework I would love to see the original.

After reading Dodger's comments, I am not sure what I think. Your narrative teamed with his makes the inside of a sanitarium sound like a day at the beach.

Composition looks good.
