Trust me there's a pool there someplace, you'll get a better view in the next shot; unless I upload a flower photo to get on certain people's nerves and wait to post the next shot in this series later. Sounds like something I would do.

There's a sign up on the path that calls this particular pool the Witches Cauldron or Bowl or Shallow Baking Dish or maybe it was Tupperware Container that is microwavable safe. Since when have I paid attention to signage. So of course it called for me getting off the path and down into the stream bed to take some photos and then climbing back up to the trail only to realize I had left the camera bag down in the gully.

Enjoy the scene and your comments welcomed.

If you post a flower shot prior to Friday, I will personally get on my broom, fly to N.S. and kick your ass.

Luv ya,

Dorothy

I won't mention that it looks a little tilted Wendell. I will leave that for the Flower Child. It is a wonder the witch didn't slip out of the shadows to get your camera bag while you were struggling to get back to the path.
The light and the shadows adds to your shot.
Good post.

Hi, Wendell...

I'm not sure what Dorothy's problem is, but you should listen to her. I know that woman personally, and if she says that she's gettin' her broom ready, she means business.

I've learned from Caedes that we tend to take our own backyards for granted. Whether it was Rachel not appreciating the emerald forests of Bath or other folks commenting on my shots of the daily fog as it rolls in and out, we don't always embrace the beauty that's just around the corner. I haven't seen running water (except from my faucet) since March. The creeks and rivers are dusty and full of dried up weeds. I wish I had a microwaveable container that is is dishwasher safe with a waterfall behind it.

Once again you're playing with fire. I would avoid attempting this shot at all costs. In fact, I would sacrifice your life if I had to. This shot runs the spectrum of light and dark. In my humble opinion the grass in the lower left is on the verge of being overexposed and detracts from my favorite part of the shot, the waterfall. Some of those shaded areas to the right of the waterfall are nearly black. The huge light and dark contrast adds some depth to the shot. The posting is entitled "Pool", and I think the murky waters of the pool almost feel like an afterthought. Additionally I would have cloned out that dead conifer in the upper left.

On the bright side, the horizon is correct for once although I miss seeing your collection of benches.

I am reading some of these comments and I am kinda lost?!?! I wont dwell on it long though. I do not see a tilt to this image. It looks very good to me. I would like to see that waterfall a little closer up though. Dont leave camera bags laying around for crying out loud I need one;) Great shot.

Don't worry my friend i am like you leaving things behind and I would have trouble get back up the bank again lol.Smashing capture and love the light and shade in this shot especial over the water. The capture of the dappled light give this shot a very nice feel.I can almost hear the whispers in the pool and the buzz of of insects.

I too would have liked a little closer shot but it is well composed and balanced.

That's a tough lighting situation, Wendell. Not one you can fix with everyday stuff. Lovely scene, though, and well composed.
