I was going to title this "Buffalo in Repose". But got to thinking some of you might get the wrong impression and think that somehow overnight the entire city of Buffalo had been toppled in an earthquake. So to stop widespread panic I changed the title. Good thing there is no town called Bison; the good citizens of Repose on the other hand might want to stay inside until the buffalo epidemic is over though.

This is a photo my father shot several years ago when visiting relatives out in Alberta. So with his permission I cleaned a few of them up and decided to share them here. I removed the very flimsy barbwire fence that wouldn't have stopped a runaway thought much less an enraged bison from the scene. Made a few changes to the lighting, some cropping and flopping.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Your father did a good job with the shot and you evidently helped with the edit. So who is Bill's friend? Good post Wendell.

You could have just entitled it, "Oh Give Me A Home..." Surely everyone remembers Gene Autry. I think he was popular shortly after the fall of Rome :-)
The image looks nice and neat, and the buffalo seem content. I heard the right on say "we don't need no stinking wire'.

Like this shot a lot - love the wildflowers and the bison seem content with their spot.

Great color, love the yellow blooms, guess they are laying in yellow, not clover. Awesome capture.

Wendell - Some very fine flopping on this image, although I think the bison did most of that; I see some not far from the closest one. Now, the good people of Bison, South Dakota and Bison, Oklahoma have formed a caravan and are enroute to Truro, NS (not Massachusetts) to have a few words with you. They are upset enough to be giving up their Superbowl Parties to do this - so beware! Kudos to Dad and you on this image. Thad

Thanks for the excellent narrative, Wendell. The one thing you didn't touch on was the word "repose". What happened? I assume that your father said, "You two move a little to the left...now right...now smile," at which point he took his shot and then said, "Now I don't want you to be standing in this shot; so just lie down," at which point he took the second shot after he reposed them.

Nice cleaning job again. The boys from Joysee will be in touch.
