For some reason this swan strikes me as being a Gerald. I originally thought it might be a Reginald. But Reggie's are usually sharp characters. Clearly its not up to Reginald standards. Or at least it ain't no more after I got done editing the photo. So it got downgraded to a Gerry. Not that I'm saying all Gerries are soft around the edges, just this one.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Really nice work, Wendell. And thanks for stepping all over my toes in your narrative since my only criticism of your image is that Gerry is soft around the edges. Actually I'm bothered by the rock wall at the top of the shot because it distracted me. I mean it's a fine wall and appears to be the far side of a pond. Let's face it...without the wall, there might not even be a pond and Reggie would be dead. Actually I'm not that bothered by the wall. Good luck in the contest.

Has a soft painterly feel to it Wendell. I never know if your shots were originally in focus or not.
It looks like Gerry has an uphill swim ahead of him.

I think this is well done. I like the softness of it gives it a peaceful feeling . Nice job.

It has a very soft focused look - whether in editing or in camera - it lends itself to a watercolor look.

It is a beauty, Wendell. Could be better though.
There are quite a few small specks and a couple of indistinguishable flowers that could be cloned out to put maximum attention on the swan, water droplets and concentric ripples. It's just the ones all over the pond that take attention away from what's happening between it's beak and the water.

Beautiful work here. I very much like your technique here...very peaceful; like a water color. Excellent color tones and composition. A well thought out picture....thanks....
