I'm sure you've all heard the old joke about the mix up regarding trains and brains. Rest assured I still show up on a regular basis hoping they'll arrive in the next shipment. Until then I work with what I have at hand or rely on the kindness of strangers.

This is the rail yard located east of town as seen from a bridge. Luckily it has low railings or I would have had to climb to the top to get a clear shot. And I'm told that's not recommended.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Really strong on the note of composition, Wendell. With respect to the train yard and the leading lines emanating from that area.

Caveats?

Well, to save your eyes some wear and tear.. let's cut to the picture worth the next thousand words:

"Limited Parking" - Cropped

Think it is the fact, or close to ... of the placement of the tree line/horizon at the vertical midpoint that nudged my pea brain to try a crop.

The sky and clouds are unique.. however, found my eyes wrestling to come back down to earth. To that of, and what I consider the more visually appealing aspect of your image here ... the train cars, themselves.

And reiterating ... how strong your composition is with just that lil' bit more focus placed on them and their setting.

Ehhh.. six of one, half dozen of another ... still doesn't quite add up to a baker's dozen.

So.. personal preference, perhaps.

That said..

I still quite enjoy your photo here.

And.. but, of course ... thank you for sharing it with us.

The composition is excellent Wendell. I particularly like the curves of the tracks on the side rails.
Must admit the crop helps the photo and this from a former advertising salesman.
One of your best posts to date.

Terrific find for perspectives!...The crop does work good, but there are certainly many 'different' angles this would look good at!

Both your shot and the crop are good just different - I like the idea of and visualation of all that space in yours.

Excellent with one exception, Wendell. As much as I love beautiful skies, unless it's the prime subject, it should compliment the subject material, but never compete.
There's too much by half, which also puts the horizon almost at center stage.
The vastness of this shot certainly makes it appear acceptable, but he sky will always be endless, regardless of how much of it you use. 20 to 30% of image space is generally adequate and allows the main subject material to dominate

I agree on what´s said hear before me. It is a great photo and the composition is very good. I too like the crop because it lets the trains be the main subject of the photo.
